Weather reports matter more than you think
It’s not uncommon for runners to check a standard weather app before heading out. If it says 8°C, light wind, 20% chance of rain, they go.
But mountain weather doesn’t behave like the valley forecast.
In the UK’s upland areas — from the high peaks of Snowdonia to the smaller mountains of the Peak District — altitude, exposure and terrain amplify conditions dramatically. A comfortable day in the valley can become a cold, destabilising experience on an exposed ridge.
